Pre-Purchase Car Inspection Newcastle

Know exactly what you are buying, before you pay for it.

A pre-purchase inspection is a complete mechanical, structural, and electronic assessment of a used car before you commit to buying it. It is carried out at our Cardiff workshop on a hoist, with a factory-level diagnostic scan across every accessible control module, by mechanics who work exclusively on European and prestige vehicles.

A test drive tells you how the car presents. Our inspection tells you what it actually is: the condition of the systems you cannot see, the fault history stored in its control modules, and anything the seller has not mentioned. You get a written report and a direct call from the inspecting mechanic before you hand over a cent.

ECU Tuning and Automotive
Every inspection is carried out to a consistent workshop standard, covering the vehicle from roof to undercarriage. Here is what gets checked, tested, or scanned at every inspection:

Engine condition, oil and coolant condition, and all fluid levels

Brake pad thickness, rotor wear, and calliper condition, measured on the hoist

Full undercarriage inspection on the hoist: rust, corrosion, structural integrity, and prior accident repair

Battery state of health and alternator output

Air conditioning operation and vent output temperature

Service history review and odometer consistency check against the logbook

Transmission and gearbox operation, including DSG mechatronic behaviour on VW Group vehicles

Suspension components: control arms, ball joints, shock absorbers, and air suspension where fitted

Factory diagnostic scan across all accessible control modules: stored faults, active codes, and event history

Tyre tread depth, tyre age, and uneven wear patterns

All interior systems, electric windows, infotainment, and instrument cluster

Road test covering transmission behaviour, steering, brakes, and drivetrain under load

We inspect most major vehicle brands, including Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, BMW, Audi, Porsche, Tesla, BYD, Polestar, Rivian, Lucid, Hyundai, Kia, Volvo, and many more.
Why A to Z

An Inspection That Goes Where Mobile Inspectors Cannot

Most inspection services in Newcastle work from a van and a code reader. We work from a fully equipped European specialist workshop

Full Workshop Hoist
Every inspection is carried out on a hoist. Mobile services working from a driveway cannot see the full undercarriage. We can, and we do, on every vehicle.

Factory Diagnostic Tools
We carry the same brand-specific diagnostic platforms franchised dealerships use. On a modern European vehicle, fault history sits across dozens of control modules a generic reader cannot access. We read what the dealer reads.

Pre-Purchase Inspection Questions, Answered

A pre-purchase car inspection is a full mechanical, structural, and electronic assessment of a used vehicle before you buy it. It identifies faults, hidden damage, and stored fault codes that a test drive cannot reveal. It matters because it is the only independent picture of the vehicle’s true condition you will get before money changes hands.

Primarily used cars. New vehicles from a licensed Australian dealer come with a factory warranty, a pre-delivery inspection, and consumer law protections that cover the risks an inspection exists to catch. The exception is near-new vehicles: demonstrators, ex-rental, and ex-fleet cars sold with low kilometres. These are technically used, often have incomplete histories, and are worth inspecting before purchase.

Around two hours, covering the hoist inspection, factory diagnostic scan, and road test. We do not rush inspections. If the scan finds something that needs a closer look, we investigate it before the report is sent.

A Pink Slip or Blue Slip checks the minimum legal safety standard for NSW registration. It does not assess mechanical condition, gearbox health, fault code history, or service record accuracy. A car can pass a roadworthy and still have a failing transmission or a cleared warning light. A pre-purchase inspection covers everything the roadworthy does not.

Yes, that is our specialty. We work exclusively on European and prestige vehicles and carry factory diagnostic platforms for every brand we service, including BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Volkswagen, Porsche, Land Rover, Jaguar, Skoda, and Volvo. This matters because fault history on these vehicles sits in modules a generic scanner cannot reach.

Yes. If the report identifies faults or upcoming repairs the seller has not disclosed, you have documented evidence to support a lower offer. Some buyers recover more in negotiation than the inspection cost.

No. We coordinate with the seller directly and the car comes to our Cardiff workshop. You receive the written report and a direct call from the inspecting mechanic. If you would like to attend, let us know when booking and we will arrange it

We tell you exactly what was found, what it means, and roughly what it would cost to fix. What you do with that is your call. Some buyers renegotiate, some walk away. Either way, the inspection did its job.
